Sequoia is known for being DC’s go-to restaurant within Georgetown’s picturesque waterfront; however there are a few things that you might not know about Sequoia. First, Sequoia recently underwent renovation to modernize the space with high-end art and decor. Second, Sequoia does bottomless brunch on both Saturday and Sunday and they are very different from one another. Their brunches include unlimited food at a buffet that quite literally has everything: from fresh fruit, to salad, mac and cheese, sushi, poke bowls, tacos, charcuterie, fried chicken, omelette station, waffles, pasta station (prepared in a cheese bowl!), smoked fish, bacon, and more. There is also a dessert bar with made to order milkshakes, a chocolate fondue fountain, and mini dishes like creme brulee. We know that this much variety can bring quality questions, but honestly, everything was delicious. While Sequoia has more of a fine-dining feel, the prices allow you to visit Sequoia more often.
We have only good things to say about Slate Wine Bar + Bistro! Our dining experience started with both of their summer wine flights: four wine tastings for $20, and three higher quality wines for $25. Each of the wines had a unique flavor and the variety was perfectly curated. Even when we encountered a wine that wasn’t typically our favorite, we still found it delicious at Slate! We met with chef Danny Lledo (a fellow Terp alum!) and he showed us why his paella is award-winning. Chef Danny's paella is inspired by Valencia, Spain, his hometown, and features both homey and earthy flavors. It seriously did not disappoint. Chef Danny brought us several other dishes that were to die for, including a creamy corn soup, fresh ahi tuna, and meaty crab cakes. We will certainly be back!
